The SignGirl Scout Day Camp is

A one week adventure in the out-of-doors in beautiful Clatter Valley Town Park. Activities include, learning outdoor skills, hiking, singing, cooking, crafts, program, wading, archery, one overnight and making new friends.

What happens at Camp?

Campers are assigned to a unit of girls of the same grade/age. Each unit has two adult Unit Leaders and three to four teen-aged Aides. This group stays together for the entire week so the girls bond and make new friends. After the morning flag ceremony, the units rotate to various scheduled activities that are geared around the camp theme.

Will it be fun?

Girls participate in age appropriate nature, craft and skills activities. Imagine the opportunity to build a camp fire, cook and eat outdoors, pitch a tent, learn archery, and earn try-its, badges and more.

On the last night of camp, we have a traditional campfire gathering, and campers spend the night at Clatter Valley Park with their Unit Leaders and especially their Unit Aides. This is a time for the entire camp to come together and celebrate that we have spent five days together and are about to spend the night outdoors.

The Volunteer Staff …
Our Staff receives special training from the Girl Scouts of CT in matters that concern parents and campers, security, and safety. They are always happy to discuss camp with you before, during or after camp. If you have any questions, just ask.

In addition to our Nurse who is an RN, many of our camp staff are also EMT’s or trained in advanced first aid.

Clatter Valley Girl Scout Day Camp is an all-volunteer staff camp. All volunteers receive 18 hours of pre camp training as recommended by the American Camping Association and Girl Scouts USA. The subject matter of training is mandated by Girl Scouts USA and the State of Connecticut.

Younger children and boys?

We offer a special unit just for younger girls and boys (under age 12) while you are busy at camp. On the days you are at camp, they will have fun in our PETER PAN unit exploring the grassy meadow, complete with water play, games and crafts and will also try their hands at Archery.
